customer appreciation cards
customer appreciation cards,
and ideas that feel personal.
The best customer appreciation ideas are specific and expect nothing back: thank someone for one real thing, remember a date that matters to them, or give them something early. A handwritten card does this cheaply, because it shows that a person thought of them.
$5.15 a card, plus delivery.

Customer appreciation ideas
None of these needs a points scheme.
Thank them for one real thing
A first order, a referral, an honest review or a long year together.
Mark their anniversary
A card on the day they became a customer. Few companies remember it.
Give them something first
Early access or a useful introduction, with no form to fill in.
Say what you changed
Tell them what you fixed because they asked.
Have the owner write
A note from the person whose name is on the door carries weight. Keep it to three lines.
Thank them when nothing is due
A card outside the holidays and with no sale running reads as meant.
Ways to send them
To a list
Upload a CSV or watch a Google Sheet. Extra columns fill your placeholders, so each card can name what they did.
To one person
Write a single card for a client who has earned it.
After an order or a deal
Connect your shop or CRM, and the card goes out by itself.
- You write
- Dear [Name], thank you for [Reason]. It meant a lot to the whole team.
- The pen writes
- Dear Priya, thank you for sending your sister our way. It meant a lot to the whole team.
What the evidence says
We found no study showing that handwritten cards raise retention.
- People who wrote thank-you letters underestimated how pleased the reader would be, and overestimated how awkward it would feel. Kumar and Epley, Psychological Science, 2018.
- A handwritten sticky note with a personal request roughly doubled survey returns: 76% against 36% in the first experiment. Garner 2005, summarised by the Behavioural Insights Team.
- Against us: thank-you postcards to 1,132 past donors drew a 19.3% response when handwritten and 18.7% when printed, which is no real difference. Adena, Huck and Neyse, Experimental Economics, 2025.
How to test it yourself
Split a list in two at random. Send cards to one half and nothing to the other, keeping everything else the same. After a few weeks, compare repeat orders, replies or gifts.

Questions
- What should a customer appreciation card say?
- Thank them for one specific thing, add one human line, and sign with a first name. Leave out any offer.
- Can it be in my own handwriting?
- Yes. Upload a sample and we build a hand from it, or choose one of ours. The pen writes in black ink.
- Is a gift better than a card?
- We know of no study that settles it. A card costs less and is easier to make specific, so start there and test.
