What to write in a customer thank you note is simple: thank them in the first line, name one specific thing about their order or visit, and sign with a real name. Three to five short sentences are enough. Keep it warm, plain and about them, not about you.
Three notes you can copy
A first order. "Thank you for your first order, Maya. I packed it myself and hope you love it. If anything is not right, write to me and I will fix it. Priya"
A repeat customer. "Thank you for coming back, Sam. This is your fourth order, and it means a lot to a small shop. I hope the new ones are as good as the last. Priya"
A problem fixed. "Thank you for your patience, Lee. I am sorry your parcel came late. I hope it was worth the wait, and I have taken a little off your next order. Priya"
What to leave out
- A sales pitch or a discount code in the first line.
- Words like "valued customer". Use their name.
- Anything you cannot stand behind, such as a promise you will not keep.
Send it as a real card
A pen writes your note in black ink on a flat 6x4 card, then it is posted in an envelope addressed to your customer. It is not a printed font. Read more in the guide to post-purchase thank-you cards, or see handwritten customer thank you cards and how a card goes out for each paid order.
